MyPoints Giving Fewer Points?

MyPoints is one of those paid to click/search/do stuff sites. The best thing about it is its simplicity. It’s often a matter of just clicking on the email they send you to earn points. The points aren’t worth a lot (about 0.6c each), but they’re easy to get. Traditionally, the emails have given you five points each (although they occasionally threw in a few that didn’t earn any points).

But now, they’re starting to play with the numbers a bit, and not in a good way. The emails that I have been getting have had various point opportunities. I did get one for more, but the vast majority have been less. Some have offered you as little as a single point for clicking the link. It doesn’t take any effort to do so, but it affects the value proposition. I’m less likely to do other things on MyPoints if I’m not getting as many email points.

The new, and not so improved, emails.

I haven’t noticed anything funny with the rewards. In other words, they don’t seem to be changing the total needed for gift cards. Having said that, I wouldn’t be surprised to see that happen sometime, either.

I’ve noticed that too and it’s really bothering me!

I noticed that they started to play with the values as well, and lately, none of my myPoints emails even offer any points for reading an email an/ or visiting a site…

I’m still getting some with points, but I’m getting a lot that start off with “4 points per dollar spent…” to make it look like there are free points, even when there aren’t.
